Oliver Westermeier, is an artisan and specialist in the decorative arts bringing 30 years of experience to dynamic collaborations with interior designers, decorators, connoisseurs and dealers.
He grew up in Munich in a family of Bavarian craftsmen and artists. He is a graduate of the Blocherer School of Art and Design in Munich where he studied Interior Architecture, painting and sculpture, ultimately earning a dual degree in Graphic Design and Painting.
In 1989 Westermeier moved to Manhattan, to work with restorers of turn of the century Austrian and secessionist furniture.
His studio, Fine Furniture Restoration LLC, located in The New York Artisan Center Building in Long Island City, is a destination for high-end clients.
With his extensive knowledge of historical construction and finishes on 18th, 19th and 20th century furniture, Westermeier and his team also undertake wood finishing, gilding and decorative painting for large scale paneled rooms.
